Balgownie Bunkhouse

Balgownie Bunkhouse has a cosy, homely feel perfect for resting your head after a busy day in the surrounding countryside.  New for 2021, The bunkhouse sleeps up to 12 people in 3 en-suite rooms.  Rooms can be booked individually, or you can book exclusive use of the entire bunkhouse.

Quietly set on a working farm Balgownie Bunkhouse is a purpose built lodge, surrounded by spectacularly beautiful countryside. The hugely spacious, open plan design comprises; a sociable, open plan dining, kitchen, and living room with wood burning stove, three en-suite bedrooms each with 2 sets of full size bunk beds sleeping up to four people.  Patio doors lead out to the large outdoor decking area which has picnic tables and an outdoor fire pit.

  • Braken Room – two sets of full sized bunk beds with comfy mattresses sleeping up to 4 people. En-suite fully accessible shower room, quality bed linen and towels.
  • Thistle Room - two sets of full sized bunk beds with comfy mattresses sleeping up to 4 people. En-suite shower room, quality bed linen and towels.
  • Heather Room - two sets of full sized bunk beds with comfy mattresses sleeping up to 4 people. En-suite fully shower room, quality bed linen and towels.
  • Communal use, open plan kitchen, living and dining room with wood burning stove and access to decking 
  • Large decking area with fire pit and picnic benches ideal for enjoying the sunset and sunrise.
  • Landscaped gardens surrounding the bunkhouse with wildflowers and orchard.
  • Secure outside storage and wash area for bikes and outdoor gear.
  • Complimentary tea and coffee with breakfast / food hampers available to purchase 
  • Utility with washing machine, tumble dryer and space for muddy boots
  • TV, games and books with complimentary wifi.

Booking our rooms individually gives you access from 16.00 and 10.00 each day. Unless prior arrangement is made with management.

  • The Dunfermline to Alloa cycle way (National Cycle Route764) can be directly accessed from the farm just 600 m from The Bunkhouse.
  • Devilla Forest provides miles of tracks within is 700 hectares of woodland, a red squirrel trail, the four lochs to find including the picturesque Pepermill Dam.
  • The close by medieval village of Culross marks the start of the Fife Pilgrims Way – a 64 mile route taking walkers on a journey through history as it winds its way through the ancient Kingdom of Fife concluding in St Andrews.
  • The Fife Coastal Path is just 2 miles from the farm. The path runs from Kincardine to Newburgh – 116 miles of Fifes coastline.
  • The new West Fife Woodland Way is a new 10 mile circular route which can be accessed a short walk (approx. 900m) through the ancient Balgownie Woods.
